Clenda “didn’t think it was real”, when she received the call saying she had the winning ticket for Rebuilding Macon’s 2011 Playhouse Raffle. After finally accepting that the call was not a practical joke, Watkins’ excitement took over. She said, “I’ve never won anything before.” Ms. Watkins is a nurse and a resident of Molena, GA. She has a 5 year old granddaughter who “loves to play teacher”. Clenda also has a 2 year old grandson who is going to love ringing the school bell on the playhouse.
Thanks to the Middle Georgia Woodworkers Association, Clenda and her grandchildren will be able to enjoy years of “playing school” with their friends and family in this replica of a one room school house – complete with a ringing school bell, Cyprus-siding, chalk and dry-erase boards, coat rack, 2 student desks and 1 teacher’s desk. Unlike the school houses of old, this school house will have electric lighting and air-conditioning.
Congratulations to Clenda Watkins for being the 2011 Playhouse Raffle winner!!
